2021 European Film Festival to open with Rwanda premiere of “Neptune Frost”

On Wednesday, 24 November 2021, the Delegation of the European Union to Rwanda will open the 2021 European Film Festival at Canal Olympia, Rebero at 19:00.

The festival will kick off with the Rwanda premiere of the film Neptune Frost, a musical science fiction film, directed by Saul Williams and Anisia Uzeyman and released in 2021.

The film is an Afrofuturist story set in a village in Rwanda featuring Rwandan actors such as Eliane Umuhire, Dorcy Rugamba, Rebecca Mucyo, Trésor Niyongabo, Eric Ngangare, Natacha Muziramakenga and Cécile Kayirebwa.

The opening gala will be graced by the directors and cast of Neptune Frost as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps, Rwanda government and general public.

The festival, organised as part of the EU’s public diplomacy and cultural activities will continue through Sunday 28 November with screenings of outstanding and recent European productions at Canal Olympia, Rebero, Century Cinema in Kigali city centre and at the French Cultural Centre.
