President Paul Kagame today received his Mozambican counterpart, Filipe Nyusi, who is in Rwanda for a state visit.  “This morning in Kigali, President Kagame received President Nyusi for a meeting during which they discussed the good progress that has been made between Rwanda and Mozambique in the ongoing cooperation towards securing Cabo Delgado as well as other areas of bilateral collaboration”, said the State House via tweeter.

In July 2021, Rwanda deployed 1,000-strong force in Mozambique to help fight insurgents. In collaboration with Mozambican Armed Defence Forces (FADM) and a contingent from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), they succeeded in liberating several key towns from terrorist groups.

President Kagame’s last visit to Mozambique was in September 2021. (End)
