Ambassador James Kimonyo presented credentials to the President of Pakistan

Ambassador James Kimonyo presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr, in Islamabad, appointing him as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan with residence in Beijing (China).

During the ceremony, Ambassador Kimonyo conveyed the warmest greetings from President Paul Kagame to President Dr. Arif Alvi and expressed his commitment to strengthen the existing diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations. 

The Ambassador also held several meetings with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of diplomatic training, defence, health, engineering, agriculture and investment opportunities that Rwanda can offer, as well as potential areas of common interest.

During the meeting with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Ambassador briefed its members on the business environment and investment opportunities in Rwanda, saying that the country presents compelling investment opportunities, with a flourishing business-friendly environment.

Rwanda’s strategic location, stable political climate, and progressive policies make it an ideal destination for Pakistan investors seeking high returns and long-term growth, the envoy said, adding that the Embassy is ready to provide support to investors to ensure that their needs are met.

The ICCI on their part, expressed interest in investing in the pharmaceutical industry, food processing, building industry parks, mining, agro processing and buying tea and coffee directly from Rwanda.

The two countries established diplomatic ties in July 1962 and cooperate in various fields including trade and investment. (End)
