Chamber of Deputies calls for consideration of key recommendations in the 2025/26 Budget

The Plenary Sitting of the Chamber of Deputies urges the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to incorporate the recommendations and insights provided on drafting the State Budget bill for the 2025/2026 fiscal year and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF 2025/26–2027/28). These recommendations should be reflected during the preparation of the national budget bill for 2025/2026.

The Chamber of Deputies also reaffirmed its commitment to continued oversight through its standing committees, ensuring that key issues identified during the budget formulation and implementation process are properly addressed.

Among key recommendations for the preparation of the national budget bill for 2025/2026 include:

– Increasing the budget for supporting vulnerable groups, in line with NST2 goals to reduce poverty through integrated social protection programs

– Boosting the agriculture and livestock budget, given its critical role in economic development and improving livelihoods

– Settling outstanding payments related to agricultural inputs for the 2025B planting season, and compensations owed

– Supporting tourism development projects as a means to attract investment and stimulate economic growth

– Ensuring proper allocation of funds to projects implemented in collaboration with development partners, reflecting the government’s share of contributions for effective execution. (End)
