A Protocol on Dispatching China Medical Team to Work in Rwanda between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Rwanda was signed in Kigali by Mr. WANG Xuekun, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, and Dr. Daniel Ngamije, Rwanda’s Minister of Health.

Ambassador WANG said, China and Rwanda enjoy a long-lasting friendship, cooperation in the fields of medical and health care demonstrates the two countries’ deep traditional friendship of sharing weal and woe, through thick and thin. The Chinese Government sent the first Chinese Medical Team to Rwanda in 1982. Over the last 40 years, 22 medical teams and more than 270 Chinese doctors received up to hundreds of thousands of patients and performed more than 10,000 surgical operations in Rwanda. Chinese Medical Team members have been through close collaboration with the Rwandan medical personnel to carry out medical work and through the exchange of experience in medical practice to render excellent services to Rwandan patients. China is willing to join hands and work together with Rwanda, to further deepen practical cooperation on medical and health care matters and lift their ties to a new height in the post-pandemic era.

Minister Ngamije on behalf of the Rwandan government and people expressed sincere gratitude for China’s consistent support to Rwanda in the fields of medical and health care during the last 40 years.
