Chinese ambassador bid farewell to Rwandan Foreign Minister

Rao Hongwei, Ambassador of China to Rwanda paid a farewell call on Vincent Biruta, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda.

Ambassador Rao thanked the minister for actively promoting the bilateral relations between China and Rwanda and for the minister’s support to the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda and to the ambassador himself.

Ambassador Rao said, during his tenure in Rwanda, China-Rwanda relations have been at their best in history.

The reciprocal visits and frequent meetings of the leaders of the two countries, as well as celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Rwanda diplomatic relations, demonstrated the deep friendship of the two countries.

Over the past five years, he has visited all four provinces and 15 districts of Rwanda, and established close ties with people from all walks of life in Rwanda.

He started to miss the country even before leaving. The ambassador believed that there is still great potential for China and Rwanda to explore areas and fields of cooperation, and the two countries will further strengthen exchanges and advance the bilateral ties.

Minister Vincent Biruta congratulated Ambassador Rao on the successful completion of his tenure and thanked the ambassador for his strong contributions to the development of Rwanda-China relations. Minister Biruta said that China is Rwanda’s strategic partner and trustworthy friend.

Rwanda and China have together fought against the COVID-19 pandemic, still achieving done a lot. Rwanda will keep promoting practical cooperation between the two sides and continue to push forward projects in the pipeline. The minister looks forward to visiting China in the future and wished the ambassador all the best.(End)
