Cholera infections hit 49, Congo river blamed

The spread is said to have started last week most probably from dirty water from Rubyiro River, local health officials said. The ministry of health on Monday called for calm saying the spread would be put under control.

The cholera spread comes after cases were discovered just across from Rusisi town in DR Congo. Rubyiro River is shared between Rwanda, DRC and Burundi – and already, fingers are being pointed at this river as the source.
