Singapore to provide aviation training in Rwanda

Kigali: The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has concluded a training agreement with the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA), for CAAS to provide aviation training in Rwanda.

The agreement was signed by the director-general of CAAS, Kevin Shum, and the director-general of RCAA, Silas Udahemuka, on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow on February 7, 2018.

Under the agreement, CAAS, through its training arm – the Singapore Aviation Academy – will develop and conduct relevant training programmes to support aviation development in Rwanda.

Kevin Shum, director-general of CAAS, said: “CAAS is pleased to work with the civil aviation authorities of Rwanda to design training programmes that suit their needs. These collaborations are well aligned with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s ‘No Country Left Behind’ initiative. They will help to develop aviation human capital for the advancement of international civil aviation.”

Director General of RCAA, Silas Udahemuka, said: “Partnering with CAAS will impart aviation knowledge and skills in our nascent human resource, which is a much needed building block for Rwanda to steadily achieve the required standards for a safe and secure aviation industry. The collaboration is also in line with ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals initiative seeking to ensure that enough qualified and competent personnel are available to sustain the global growth of the aviation industry.” (End)
