Rutsiro: For the first time since the campaign started last week, President Kagame was on the campaign trail Monday with members of his family including the children, RNA reports.

The President and First Lady Jeannette Kagame arrived at Gisiza in Rutsiro district at about 13hours, amid an eruption of laud and prolonged applause, dancing and chanting from the tens of thousands who had been waiting for hours. 

The First Family is accompanied by the elder son Ivan Cyomoro Kagame, and daughter Ange Kagame. In Rutsiro, President Kagame promised that the impassable road from Karongo to Rutsiro will be tarmacked when he enters Village Urugwiro.

After Rutsiro, the First Family headed back for Kalongi at about 16hours, where thousands were waiting at Rubengera trading center.
