German Minister of Health to start trip to Rwanda

Kigali: The German Minister of Health Jens Spahn will be in Rwanda from 3rd to 4th October. After a first stop in Ethiopia the delegation including Mr. Spahn, Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, the State Secretary to the German Minister for Economic Cooperation, and four parliamentarians will travel to Kigali. Their two-day-long trip in the country will focus on health and migration issues.

In the Rwandan capital delegates are due to visit the Oasis of Peace Community Center Maison Shalom and meet the UNHCR representative to Rwanda, Ahmed Baba Fall. Following their commemorational visit to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial, the group will attend Germany’s National Day celebration.

The next day, delegates around the German Minister of Health will visit the Digital Trans-formation Centre, where they will gain an insight into the Blood Bank Management System Solution project, among other initiatives.

Subsequently the Rwandan Minister of State in charge of Primary Health Care, Dr. Patrick Ndimubanzi, and the German Minister of Health Jens Spahn will sign a “Letter of Intent” on cooperation in the field of highly pathogenic diseases.

Finally, the group takes part in efficiency by Edification (EFFO) training session conducted by the Robert Koch Institute. (End)
