Minister Biruta signs book of condolences at Turkish Embassy following earthquake

On behalf of the Government of Rwanda, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Vincent Biruta signed today the condolences book opened at Turkish Embassy in Kigali in the wake of the recent tragic earthquakes.

“Rwanda stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Türkiye”, Minister Vincent Biruta noted in the condolences book, in an expression of solidarity with the people of Türkiye in the wake of the devastating earthquake. 

On 6 February, Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame sent condolences to his counterpart of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkish people and Syrians. 

“My deepest condolences to President Erdogan, the people of Türkiye and of Syria for the immense loss of life and destruction following the earthquake. The people of Rwanda stand in solidarity with you during this time of sorrow,” he tweeted.

The latest figures released early this Friday showed over 18,991 people had been killed in Turkey and at least 3,377 in Syria in the disaster. (End)
