Minister of State Irere awards three best performers TVT schools

The Minister of State in charge of ICT and TVET, Claudette Irere, has awarded the best performers TSSs(Technical Secondary Schools), VTCs (Vocational Training Centers) and Rwanda Polytechnics Colleges who were selected after the results of TVET(Technical Vocational and Educational Training)  Internal Quality Inspection.

The best performers in the implementation of the Competency-based training (CBT) and competency-based assessment (CBA) approach have been awarded following the results of TVET Internal Quality Inspection conducted in TSSs & VTCs between 21/11- 02/12/ 2022.

The awarded schools are RP-IPRC Tumba, Collège Fondation Sina Gérard and Nyanza Technical Secondary School. It was during the ‘TVET Awards and Conference’ at Kigali Marriott Hotel this Friday 20, January 2023.

Delivering his opening remarks, the Director General of  Rwanda TVET Board, Paul Umukunzi said that Rwanda, as a country that has embarked into a journey of economic transformation, needs a qualified and competent workforce able to cope with the current dynamics of the labour market demands.

“To get that competent workforce, there is a need to transform our current education system that was more theoretical than practical by developing the competences of the trainees in every field of study”, Paul Umukunzi added.

In her closing remarks, the Minister of State Claudette Irere said: “I thank schools that have been working day and night to implement TVET programs and strive to improve teaching and learning, please note that you are the ones developing workforces for national transformation and development.”

The “TVET Awards and Conference” was graced by the attendance of Minister of State Claudette Irere, other higher officials and Development Partners in the TVET sector.

TVET has emerged as one of the most effective human resource development strategies that Rwanda has embraced in order to train and modernize the technical workforce for national development. TVET has been an important component within the Rwandese policy to end poverty. (End)
