Minister Uwamariya officiated the inauguration of Kent State University Centre in Rwanda

The Minister of Education, Dr Valentine Uwamariya, today officiated the inauguration of Kent State University Centre in Rwanda at the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology, which will serve among others in establishing joint research and academic programs in various areas. Kent State University is based in the United States of America. 

“Today we witnessed the inauguration of Kent State University Centre officiated by the Ministry of Education Dr. Valentine Uwamariya.  The Centre will serve among others in establishing joint research and academic programs in various areas with Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Rwanda National Police, Aegis Trust among key players” said the University of Rwanda via twitter.

In her remarks, Minister Valentine Uwamariya congratulated University of Rwanda and Kent State University for this tremendous partnership milestone, which touches both promotion of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Social Sciences.

“The opening of the Kent State University Centre here in Rwanda is another signal of the commitment by Kent State University to advance this ongoing collaboration and partnership between the two varsities, Kent State University and University of Rwanda and I can only foresee rapid development”, Minister Valentine Uwamariya declared.

“I have no doubt that the operations of State University in Rwanda will continue to pave the way for collaborations that are directly relevant to economic development. We hope to see many Rwandans and Africans gain from experience and knowledge of this academic institution”, Minister Uwamariya added during the establishment of the American Academy in Rwanda.

The University of Rwanda already has close collaboration with Kent State University in the area of peace and conflict studies under the Centre of Conflict Management of University of Rwanda and the School of Peace and Conflict Studies of  Kent State University. Potential partnerships in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, student and  staff mobility are being explored.

Kent State is a public university in Kent, Ohio(USA), with more than 33,000 students, 300 degree programs and 268,000 alumni worldwide. (End)
