Morocco, Kuwait set to give strong impetus to bilateral relations (Kuwaiti FM)

Morocco and Kuwait are determined to give strong impetus to their bilateral relations to serve the common interests of the two countries, said, on Friday, May 07, 2021  in Rabat, the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al Ahmed Al-Sabah.

Speaking to reporters before his meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Kuwaiti minister underlined the will of the two countries to broaden bilateral cooperation.

In this regard, he mentioned the preparations for the Moroccan-Kuwaiti joint commission, which will be held this year in Morocco, noting that the meeting will be a turning point for bilateral relations and will enable the two countries to discuss the means to strengthen their relations in several areas and at all levels.

Regarding his meeting with Mr Bourita, the Kuwaiti minister said that it constitutes an opportunity to dwell on the lessons learned from the coronavirus pandemic, in particular the strengthening of the health system.

The Kuwaiti official highlighted “the historic and honorable positions of Morocco” with regard to Kuwait, recalling the first visit of the late HM King Mohammed V to Kuwait in 1961, during which the Sovereign reaffirmed his support to the country’s independence.

The Kingdom was among the first countries to support Kuwait’s membership within the League of Arab States after its independence, he pointed out.

The Kuwaiti minister praised the position of HM King Mohammed VI supporting Kuwait’s policy and his efforts to overcome the repercussions of the crisis between the Gulf countries and strengthen the reunification of Arab ranks.

His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid on Friday received, in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al Ahmed Al-Sabah, who handed to His Royal Highness a message from the Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

This audience took place in the presence, on the Moroccan side, of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita and, on the Kuwaiti side, of the Kuwaiti ambassador to Morocco, Abdellatif Ali Abdallah Saleh Al Yahya, and the director of the cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al Sabah.
