Kigali: Kigali city is on a search for an expert who will be in charge of implementing its development master plan – but it seems they are not just looking for anybody, as they have engaged the services of a global hiring agency.
Using Velocity Recruitment, a global specialist hiring agency, Kigali city wants to hire a ‘Director of Infrastructure and Urban Planning’ on a two-year renewal contract.
The successful individual ‘will oversee the establishment of systems necessary for the implementation of the master plan with quality and timely service delivery,’ according to a job advert posted online.
‘You will be responsible for setting up strategies for marketing of the Kigali City Master Plan and its implementation and ensure that the planning, development and maintenance of all the infrastructures in Kigali City are carried out cost effectively whilst you will lead the day-to-day operational activities of the department,’ it reads.
As for the remuneration, it is only described as ‘Excellent’ – suggesting Kigali city is ready for anybody from anywhere, as it will not shy away from paying up.
Kigali City covers an area of 730 square metres of which 40% is urban and the rest being considered a zone for expansion of the urbanization process.
Some 1million people live in the city – and growing, indicating a need for a rapid expansion in housing and business complexes.
‘Kigali is one of the fastest growing cities in Africa in terms of urbanization and is key to the socio-economic development of the country,’ says the advert.
