OIC Commends Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency’s Approval of Development Projects in Al-Quds Asharif

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the recent approval by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency of the first package of social and human development projects in Al-Quds Al-Sharif under its 2022 annual action plan for an overall amount of one million dollars.

The OIC General Secretariat said Tuesday in a statement that “this approval falls within the framework of the high interest and care that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, of the Kingdom of Morocco, Chairman of the OIC Al-Quds Committee, has been giving to the holy city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif in order to enable the residents of this holy city to benefit from these projects and so as to support their steadfastness”.

The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency had approved, on January 26, the first part of these projects in Al-Quds under its annual plan 2022 for a total amount of one million dollars, and this as part of the High concern of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the holy city and its inhabitants.

This first part concerns the social assistance program (400,000 dollars) which aims in particular to double the number of orphans cared for by the Agency, the continuation of support for needy maqdessie families who benefit from daily humanitarian aid, and the allocation of 4,000 complete food parcels, which will be distributed in two phases, during the month of next Ramadan, the agency said in a press release.

This financing, added the same source, also concerns the launch of the second phase of the project “Civil initiatives for a sustainable human development program in Al-Quds” for a total amount of 415,000 dollars in order to finance 10 new projects for the benefit of the maqdessies associations in the field of human development, and this after the completion by the supervision commission of the examination of the files before their submission to the Agency for approval.

On the other hand, the Agency approved the financing of projects in the fields of arts, heritage and cultural industries to the tune of 150,000 dollars for the benefit of two cultural centers and two associations active in the field of cultural animation and society in Al-Quds, in addition to supporting the activities of a research center specializing in Islamic-Christian religious rapprochement and religious, heritage and cultural studies in the Holy Land.

The Agency has also mobilized $40,000 in the form of incentive grants for student researchers specializing in the media field to carry out research and documentary studies on Al-Quds, its history and the various aspects linking Moroccans to this holy city, within the framework of the first edition of the “Al-Quds Acharif” Prize for Journalistic Excellence for the benefit of students from the Institute of Information and Communication in Morocco and the master’s degree in information at Al Quds University.
