Opening of a Consulate General of the Union of the Comoros in Laâyoune

Kigali: The Union of the Comoros opened on Wednesday December 18th, 2019, a Consulate General in the City of Laâyoune, on the occasion of an inauguration ceremony chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and his Comorian counterpart, Mr. Souef Mohamed El Amine.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita affirmed that the issue of the Sahara is currently experiencing a positive dynamic which goes in the direction of strengthening of the Moroccanness of the southern provinces.

In this regard, the Minister recalled the important developments happened recently on the Sahara issue, such as Lesotho’s decision to suspend all its previous decisions and declarations relating to the Sahara and the pseudo- “rasd”, as well as the Jamaican’s position to maintain its decision to withdraw the recognition of the pseudo “rasd”, or this of the Union of the Comoros today to open a Consulate General in Laâyoune.

In the same perspective, the Minister indicated that the vote scheduled for Wednesday by the US Congress of the budget law includes the southern provinces in the aid allocated to Morocco, as well as the adoption by the Commission for Foreign Affairs,  National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccan Expatriates of the House of Representatives of two bills aimed at establishing the legal competence of the Kingdom over its entire maritime area.

Contrary to the propaganda campaign waged by the other parties, Morocco is witnessing a positive dynamic within the African Union, the European Union and in the positions of influential countries in favor of the Kingdom.

“This is the dynamic that knows the Sahara issue and those who doubt of the finality of the UN process or the Moroccanness of the Sahara are wrong,” he insisted, adding that these events “confirm that Morocco is in its Sahara and the Sahara is in Morocco”. (End)
