Police trains over 980 on fire safety

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB) has strengthened its countrywide fire safety awareness to prevent fires resulting from reckless human actions.

In separate outreach activities conducted since the beginning of this week, the FRB trained 982 people on how to prevent fire outbreak as well as using different firefighting equipment to put out fire.

Those trained include 531 medical and administration staff from five hospitals of Kabaya in Ngororero District, Mugonero in Karongi District, Kibilizi in Gisagara District, Gisenyi in Rubavu District and Shyira hospital in Nyabihu District.

Also trained at hospitals are security guards, cleaners and hospital technicians.

Other 451 people, who were equipped with fire safety knowledge and skills to respond to fire emergencies, include staff and students at African Leadership University-Rwanda (ALU) in Bumbogo Sector, Gasabo District; teachers and students of Ecole Primaire Le Petit Prince in Kicukiro District; as well as security personnel of Top Security company.

The countrywide fire safety awareness combines theory and practical sessions on the causes and components of fire, safer measures against fire and how to use different firefighting gadgets to put out fire. (End)
