President Kagame addresses 29th National Prayer Breakfast

President Kagame has addressed the 29th National Prayer Breakfast hosted today by the Rwanda Leaders Fellowship at the Kigali Convention Centre.

The 29th National Prayer Breakfast held under the theme “Serving God’s people for lasting change”. Today’s sermon was delivered by Rev. Dr. Goodwill Shana, Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Life International Ministries.

President Kagame reminded those who participated in the prayers that the word of God and belief have a connection with other activities and politics: “But for everything to go well, people must know their responsibilities, be united. And I would say that where Rwanda came from is the cooperation of political and religious leaders”.

“The fact that we have taken a step is good. And we have been able to get there, which is something to be proud of. But we still have a long way to go and it requires the cooperation of everyone, ” he said.

“Faith, in my view, beliefs people have of different kinds, should also serve to strengthen ourselves. They should strengthen us in determining, in choosing, in deciding what is best for us. And just refuse that people have the right to come and decide for you, and decide even what happens to you. Just refuse.”, President Kagame added in his address.

President Kagame also spoke about peace, that Rwanda has a duty to preserve it because it has lost it badly: “Rwandese people need it more than others because we have lost it a lot and to do it is to make the right choice.”

The annual National Prayer Breakfast is organized by Rwanda Leaders Fellowship and brings together hundreds of leaders from the private sector, civil society, faith sector, government officials, international guests and others. The aim is to thank God for Rwanda’s achievements over the past year and to launch a new initiative. (End)
