President Kagame today joined other world leaders for the two-day G20 Summit in Rome, Italy. The President has been invited in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Development Agency of the African Union, AUDA-NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee.
The Summit runs from 30-31st October 2021, and is attended by the G20 Heads of State and Government, their counterparts from invited countries, as well as representatives of the main international and regional organizations.
During the first day of the G20 Summit, President Kagame gave remarks during the session on Global Economy and Global Health as well as held meetings on the side-lines of the Summit with H.M Queen Maxima of the Netherlands in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for the Inclusive Finance for Development and Charles Michel, President of the European Council.
The President also attended a meeting of EU-AU Heads of State hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palazzo Farnese which houses the Embassy of France before attending a dinner hosted by Italian President Sergio Matarella.
The G20 is the international forum that brings together the world’s major economies. Its members account for more than 80% of world GDP, 75% of global trade and 60% of the population of the planet.
The G20 members are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. Spain is also invited as a permanent guest. (End)
