President Kagame is in the Republic of Singapore for a three-day working visit

President Kagame is in the Republic of Singapore for a three-day working visit, during which he will meet with both the President of Singapore, H.E. Halimah Yacob, as well as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

President Kagame begun his visit on the morning of Friday, 30 September by delivering the Majulah Lecture at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) followed by an interactive discussion moderated by Professor Subra Suresh, NTU’s President.

The Majulah Lecture was launched in 2017 and serves as a platform for leaders from both the public and private sectors to exchange ideas.

During his visit to the University, President Kagame also witnessed the signing of a partnership agreement on academic exchange between NTU and Rwanda’s Ministry of Education.

The agreement set to come into action next year, will give opportunities to Rwandan students to attend NTU, ranked among the top academic institutions globally.

President Kagame will then proceed to the Istana, the Singapore Presidential Palace, where he will pay a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Singapore, E. Halimah Yacob before holding a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Rwanda and Singapore bilateral relations were further strengthened during Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s working visit following CHOGM held in Rwanda earlier this year.

Areas of cooperation include trade and investment, education, conservation, finance, law enforcement, ICT, justice, and air services. (End)
