The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has said that Tanzania will continue to set up infrastructure to promote trade with Rwanda in order to raise the existing level of trade.
President Samia said this today when he and his guest the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, spoke to the media at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
In addition, President Samia has said that according to the existing relationship between Tanzania and Rwanda, the current level of trade is not compatible with the resources available in the two countries.
President Samia has also said that currently Tanzania is working to strengthen the ports of Dar es Salaam and Tanga and strengthen other means of communication so that it can effectively provide services to Rwanda as well as other countries around it.
For his part, President Kagame has said that the two countries have worked hard to develop cooperation and existing economic and historical relations to strengthen the lives of their citizens.
Similarly, President Kagame has thanked President Samia for his leadership and dedication in finding a solution to the challenges facing countries in the East African region, including the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
President Kagame is in Tanzania for a two-day working visit where he has discussed with President Samia issues of business, energy and infrastructure, defense and security as well as promoting and strengthening the relationship and cooperation of the two nations.
