President Kagame received Gen (Rtd) Romeo Dallaire

At Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received Gen (Rtd) Romeo Dallaire, Founder of Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security, a global partnership with the mission to end the recruitment and use of children in war.

The institute has established a Centre of Excellence in Rwanda through which 15,000 security forces in the region have been trained by retired Rwanda Defense Forces and Rwanda National Police members.

The Dallaire Institute was founded by Roméo Dallaire and Jacqueline O’Neill in 2007, and is situated in Halifax, Nova Scotia with offices in Kigali, Rwanda and Juba, South Sudan.

Roméo Dallaire is a Canadian retired politician and military officer. He notably was the force commander of UNAMIR, the ill-fated United Nations peacekeeping force for Rwanda between 1993 and 1994, and for trying to stop the genocide that was being waged by Hutu extremists against Tutsis. (End)
