President Kagame to attend a debate on Migration and mobility in the Africa-Europe partnership

The President of  Rwanda  Paul Kagame and the Prime Minister of  Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis will attend tomorrow the “Talking Africa-Europe” debate to discuss a coherent, comprehensive and compassionate approach to migration.

To facilitate an open and frank dialogue on key, often contentious, issues between Africa and Europe continents, Africa-Europe Foundation is organising three high-level “Talking Africa-Europe” specials focusing on the priority issues of Migration and Mobility on January 27.

This debate will explore the drivers of intercontinental migration, often misunderstood – and politically charged discourse only adds fuel to this fire. Working on a coherent, comprehensive, and compassionate approach to migration, that aims to foster well- managed mobility is key. By taking a holistic approach, this debate will look at the best ways to strengthen intra-continental mobility in Africa, and create accessible routes for regular intercontinental migration.

The debate is organized by the Africa-Europe Foundation, a consortium entity founded by a leading European think-tank, Friends of Europe, and a leading African Foundation, Mo Ibrahim Foundation, in partnership with the African Climate Foundation and the ONE Campaign and with a multitude of stakeholders from civil society, business, policymaking and the youth sector across Africa and Europe.

The purpose of the Africa-Europe Foundation is to facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue, catalyse partnerships and unlock new opportunities that can transform Africa-Europe relations into action.

The Foundation’s work is driven by the High-Level Group of Personalities and Strategy Groups in priority areas of cooperation: Health, Digital, Transport, Agriculture and Energy, with cross-cutting themes on Climate Change; Youth; Gender; Education; Mobility; Involvement of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES); and Governance. (End)
