President Kagame will today deliver a keynote address during the opening of the 2022 SEforALL Forum taking place at the Kigali Convention Centre. The 5th edition of the Forum, co-hosted by Sustainable Energy for All and the Government of Rwanda, is being held under the theme “Driving bold action for a people-centred energy transition”. 

The three-day forum, taking place for the first time in Africa, brings together global leaders from government, private sector, international organizations, civil society and more, as well as youth representatives to assess the progress and create solutions to accelerate the delivery of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) of a clean and inclusive energy transition across the world.

The Forum serves as a platform to exchange best practices and build new partnerships that work to end energy poverty and ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

Today’s opening plenary will also feature statements from António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Damilola Ogunbiyi, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and CEO of Sustainable Energy for All, Hon. Ernest Nsabimana, Rwandan Minister of Infrastructure, Michael R. Bloomberg, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions and Francesco Starace, CEO and General Manager of Enel S.p.A. (End)
