President Sassou-Nguesso of Congo-Brazza decorated with Agaciro medal

The Rwandan President Paul Kagame on July 21 awarded President Sassou-Nguesso of the Republic of Congo with the National Order of Honour (Agaciro Medal). President Denis Sassou-Nguesso is in Rwanda for a three-day State Visit.

The award came in recognition of “President Sassou-Nguesso’s exceptional leadership and dedication to building a more stable and prosperous Africa”, said the Office of the President.

This happened yesterday evening at the Kigali Convention Centre when President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Sassou-Nguesso of Congo-Brazzaville.

The “Agaciro”, meaning “dignity”, medal is awarded to a head of state/government, head of an international organization, or any other high-ranking official who has distinguished themselves through actions that significantly promote the common good, in Rwanda and beyond.

President Sassou-Nguesso’s visit to Rwanda follows President Kagame’s visit to the Republic of Congo in April 2022, during which a number of agreements on cooperation were signed in various sectors including economic cooperation, trade and cultural exchange. (End)
