RDF Army Chief of Staff briefs Rwanda Security Forces ahead of deployment to Cabo Delgado

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Army Chief of Staff, Major General Vincent Nyakarundi, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police Vincent Sano, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, today briefed the Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) contingent at Kami Barracks ahead of their deployment to Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique.

The briefing included members of both the RDF and the Rwanda National Police as they prepared for their mission.

Major General Nyakarundi told the relieving force that their predecessors had done an excellent job in helping to restore normalcy in Cabo Delgado Province, and therefore, they should strive to carry out their duties even more effectively.

He urged them to maintain discipline and foster teamwork in order to successfully fulfill their assigned responsibilities.

Rwanda initially deployed troops to Cabo Delgado province in July 2021 at the request of the Mozambican government. Since then, the Rwanda Security Forces and Mozambican army have significantly weakened Islamic State-linked insurgents. (End)
