RDF Head of Defence Intelligence visits Rwandan Peacekeepers in South Sudan

Juba: The RDF(Rwanda Defence Force) Head of Defence Intelligence, Major General Vincent Nyakarundi visited  Rwandan peacekeepers (Rwanbatt-1 and Rwanda Aviation Unit) serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) at Tomping base camp in capital city Juba.

He was received by the Rwanbatt-1 Contingent Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Ndayisabye, Contingent Commander Rwanda Aviation Unit, Lt Col Dan Musafiri and Staff Officers.

He was briefed on the current security situation in South Sudan and the nature of the operating environment before he got to interact with troops.

Major General Vincent Nyakarundi conveyed a message from Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda and Commander-in- Chief of the Rwanda Defence Force and the entire RDF leadership thanking them for fulfilling their tasks, discipline and professionalism portrayed while in the mission area.

He further briefed them on the current security situation in Rwanda and current relations between Rwanda and neighbouring countries.

Maj Gen V Nyakarundi urged the force to maintain discipline and remain determined in accomplishing their daily tasks.

Currently, Rwanda deploys three contingents under the UN mandate in different parts of South Sudan and an Aviation Unit (RAU)
