Kigali: DR Congo President Joseph Kabila is scheduled to meet Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame as a demonstration of increasing trust between the two countries, Congolese Regional and international Cooperation Minister announced.
"Hopefully, sooner than you think. Maybe within the next few weeks. We are working on the idea”, Mr. Raymond Tshibanda told VOA On Tuesday Morning. The Minister did not say where bitter foes would encounter, and what would be on agenda for discussion.“We are in constant consultation with Kigali, trying to manage the work schedule of the two heads of state. But we have already agreed in principle that they are going to be meeting soon".
The announcement comes following a failed supposed meeting that was to have taken place on Congo’s Independence Day July 01. Sources in the Kivu provincial government intimated to RNA in June after a visit in Kigali that that they had invited President Kagame to Goma, North Kivu provincial capital – where the independence celebrations took place.
Minister Tshibanda said President Kabila's newly named ambassador, Norbert Nkulu Kilombo, signals a seriousness toward building ties with Kigali. Mr. Nkulu Kilombo, is scheduled to arrive in Rwanda soon. Rwanda has also sent its envoy by the names of Rugira Amandin.
