Rwanda attends African Medicines Agency meeting in Addis Ababa

The Rwandan Minister of Health Dr. Ngamije Daniel is attending the two days Extraordinary African Medicines Agency (AMA) State parties meeting in Addis Ababa.

The overall objective of the meeting is to deliberate and decide on operationalization modalities of the African Medicines Agency.

AMA is an African Union specialized health agency tasked with improving regulatory harmonization of medicines, including in the area of pharmaceutical manufacturing, in an effort to improve access to quality-assured drugs across the continent. Its headquarters will be in Kigali.

The African Union executive council voted for Rwanda to host the new African Medicines Agency, or AMA, during its midyear coordination meetings held in Zambia July 2022. (End)
