Rwanda attends the sixth Conference of African Correctional Services in Dakar

The Commissioner General of Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), CGP Juvenal Marizamunda, is in Dakar, Senegal where he is attending the 6th Biennial Conference of African Correctional Services Association (ACSA) from 15-19 May 2023.

This year’s conference has been organised under the theme: “Building Resilient Correctional Systems: Lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic”. 

The conference is an interactive and experience sharing with focus on contemporary corrections demands, lessons learnt on challenges posed by pandemic.  

The conference is expected to be an interactive and experience sharing moment. Participants will, among other things, focus on contemporary correctional demands, draw lessons from challenges posed by the pandemic and devise strategies with a view to making our respective institutions more resilient in the face of adversity.

The conference has attracted around 400 participants including heads of corrections/prisons/penitentiary services across the continent, experts and academics in the field of corrections, NGOs, CSOs, and other regional and international partners.The opening ceremony was graced by the Senegalese Premier Minister Amadou Ba.
