Rwanda delivers humanitarian assistance to Mozambique

The government of Rwanda delivered today a shipment of humanitarian assistance to Mozambique, following recent severe floods, which claimed many victims and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

The donation consists of 20 metric tons of food, emergency items and medicines.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Tuesday, February 3, said that an additional shipment is expected to arrive in the coming days.

The latest severe floods have displaced around 400,000 people, adding pressure to a country grappling with conflict in the north, which displaced over 300,000 people in the second half of 2025 alone.

Rwanda has extended a helping hand to Mozambique in various sectors, including deployment of Rwandan forces to areas hit by terrorism and insecurity in the north of the country since 2021. (End)
