Rwanda is ready to share with Libya experience in tackling post-conflict challenges as a country that overcame the worst tragedy in the twentieth century; the genocide against the Tutsi.

The announcement was made today when Minister of State in charge of Regional Cooperation, James Kabarebe, received Ibrahima Sidy Ibrahim Mattar, Ambassador of the State of Libya to Rwanda, to discuss further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

In their exchange, Minister James Kabarebe expressed Rwanda’s readiness to share experience regarding its transformation journey after the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Rwanda could be a good help to unity and reconciliation in Libya after a war that has destroyed the Arab country.

Although Rwanda experienced one of the most violent conflicts of the 20th century, the country has achieved a lot of success in reconciliation, reconstruction and development since the conflict ended. This was the result of a combination of leadership, national ownership, and innovative approaches to governance and employment generation with the support of the international community. (End)
