Rwanda received 857,000 Covid-19 vaccines from Italia

The Ministry of Health received today 857,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines donated by Italian Republic.

The shipment was received on behalf of the Minister of Health by Hassan Sibomana, Director of Vaccination Program, and Ambassador Guillaume Kavaruganda, Director General for Europe, Americas and International Organisations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the handover ceremony, Hassan Sibomana and Ambassador Guillaume Kavaruganda hailed support by the Italian Government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation is a valuable contribution to Rwanda’s ongoing vaccination drive, targeting the most vulnerable across the country.

Rwanda continues to extend vaccination to a wider range of targeted groups, registering significant progress towards access to vaccine. A total of 1,680,361 people have been fully vaccinated while 2,131,766 received the first dose of COVID-19 since Rwanda began countrywide inoculation program on 5th March 2021. (End)
