Rwanda Security Force conducts community work in Macomia District

The Rwanda Security Force (RSF) deployed in Macomia District, Mozambique, along with residents of the Mucojo coastal village, conducted community work (Umuganda) to clean the Mucojo market place. The area had been under control of the Islamic State terrorists until October 2024, when it was liberated by the RSF.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hassan Fazenda, the Chief of Mucojo village (Mwenyekiti), expressed his gratitude to the Rwanda Security Force for their effort in stabilising their area. “We are thankful for the sacrifices you made that enabled us to return to our homes. Your continued support is helping us to recover from the devastating impact of four years of insurgency.”

Lt Col Andrew Mugabo, speaking on behalf of the Rwanda Security Force, thanked the community and local leaders for their collaboration. He reaffirmed the Rwanda Security Force’s commitment to ongoing support, particularly in efforts focused on restoring livelihoods and fostering long-term stability in the region. (End)
