PS Clementine Mukeka

The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Clementine Mukeka, opened this afternoon the session of Permanent Secretaries at the ongoing 11th Joint Permanente Commission(JPC) between Rwanda and Uganda.

“This JPC is exceptional because it marks a turning point in our renewed bilateral cooperation”, she said as she delivered her speech.

The 11th JPC between Rwanda and Uganda is taking place for three days in Kigali, the first such forum since the normalization of relations between the two countries.

The commission was revived in September 2022 during a meeting between Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeje Odongo, and his Rwandan counterpart, Vincent Biruta, on September 1, 2022.

Rwanda reopened its border with Uganda in 2022 which had been closed in February 2019 after political differences spiraled between the two East African neighbors. (End)
