On 9 December 2022, the plenary sitting of the Senate approved the resignation of Dr. Iyamuremye Augustin from the position of the President of the Senate and as a Senator.
Dr. Iyamuremye Augustin announced that he was resigning due to health reasons. The plenary sitting declared the Office of the President of the Senate vacant by an absolute majority vote of the 25 Senators present in a Plenary Sitting. (End)
