Somalia Judiciary delegation visited Rwanda Correctional Service

A Judiciary delegation from Somalia led by Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed has officially visited Rwanda Correctional Service. The visit was aimed at sharing experience and best practices in the management of inmates, especially the use of Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS).

In his remarks, the Commissioner General of RCS, CGP Juvenal Marizamunda, appreciated the delegation for choosing to visit RCS during their time in Rwanda and inform them that RCS has changed its philosophy to focus on rehabilitative roles.

“Like many other prisons systems in the rest of the World, Rwanda Correctional Service has changed its philosophy to focus on rehabilitative roles. In fact, since its establishment, RCS has been mandated to ensure safe and humane custody, focus on reformation, rehabilitation and preparation of inmates for their safe reintegration back to the society after serving their sentences.” CGP Juvenal Marizamunda remarked.

The Commissioner General has also give thanks to the Government of Rwanda for the policy direction, the commitment and support provided to RCS in running and managing the correctional programs.

The Judiciary delegation from Somalia included the Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, the Attorney General/Prosecutor, Sulaiman Mohamed Mohamed; the Chief of Puntland State High Court, Nour Isse Mohamed; the Chief of Southwest State High Court, Ahmed Ali Musse among others.(End)
