Rwanda High Commissioner to Ghana Rosemary Mbabazi laying wreaths in the ceremonial garden of Ghana Presidency
The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Rwandan Parliament, Kazarwa Gertrude, has expressed deep condolences after eight people, including two senior ministers, died in a military helicopter crash in Ghana on Wednesday.
In a statement issued 09 August 2025, Honorable Kazarwa Gertrude wrote:
“It is with deep shock and profound sorrow that we have learned of the tragic passing of Honourable Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, and Honourable Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology of the Republic of Ghana, following the unfortunate helicopter crash. In this moment of national grief and mourning, I wish to convey, on behalf of the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Rwanda and in my own name, our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of Ghana the Honourable Members of Parliament, the bereaved families, and all those affected by this untimely loss. May the souls of departed Ministers rest in eternal peace”.
On the first of three days of national mourning announced by the Ghanaian government following the demise of two Cabinet Ministers and six others in the helicopter crash on August 6, Rosemary Mbabazi, Rwanda High Commissioner to Ghana, joined mourners to lay wreaths in the ceremonial garden of Ghana Presidency.
The Ghanaian government confirmed that the two Cabinet Ministers and six others died when the military helicopter crashed in the Ashanti region on Wednesday morning.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash. (End)
