Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and Ugandan commander of land forces, Lt General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, concluded today his three-day working visit to  Rwanda, which began on March 14, 2022. It was his second visit to Rwanda aimed at mending relations between Rwanda and Uganda.

General Muhoozi is the first son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. He was received by Rwandan President Paul Kagame for discussions on strengthening bilateral ties. President Kagame received also General Muhoozi Kainerugaba at his farm where he gifted him with Inyambo cows.

“After a very fruitful three days visit to Rwanda I’d like to thank His Excellency Paul Kagame and the government and people of Rwanda for the very warm way we were received and treated. We discussed a wide range of issues” said General Muhoozi.

“One of the issues we discussed concerned the few difficulties still connected with the border opening (the high cost of PCR tests for Covid-19 etc). President Paul Kagame assured me all that will be sorted out”, he explained via tweeter.

“I thank His Excellency Kaguta and Museveni for giving me the opportunity to serve my nation by helping to rebuild the very important strategic relationship between Uganda and Rwanda”, he added.

This second visit took place weeks after Rwanda opened its borders, which had been shut for three years. Kigali had accused Uganda of allowing dissidents and armed groups to use parts of the country as a base to plan attacks to destabilise Rwanda. (End)
