WASAC signed a MoU with Singapore’s National Water Agency

Today on the 19th April 2022, Water and Sanitation Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Public Utility Board (PUB) which is Singapore’s National Water Agency. This MoU is aimed at deepening collaboration, and promoting leveraging technology, capacity development and knowledge exchange on water supply management between the two institutions which have the common mission of ensuring safe and adequate supply of water to their respective customers.

The MoU signed by PUB Chief Executive Officer ,Mr. Ng Joo Hee and Umuhumuza Gisele, the Ag.Chief Executive officer of WASAC, will also help to facilitate the two water utilities to exchange knowledge in the fields of water supply, water network management, used water management and resilience in the face of climate change. The knowledge exchanges will also focus on research and development, and facilitate the commercialization of new technologies in new markets.

Both parties will exchange knowledge on water technologies in the areas of water supply operations and water quality monitoring. The MOU is also expected to facilitate the deployment of promising technologies to address water challenges in both utilities.

The exchanges will be facilitated through study visits to the various water infrastructure and facilities in Singapore, meetings with Singapore water companies, and capacity building through training programs at the Singapore Water Academy.

Umuhumuza Gisele, the Ag.Chief Executive officer of WASAC who is currently in Singapore said that the signature of this MoU with PUB is in line with WASAC’s strategy to build effective partnerships with leading global actors in both water and sanitation sectors, for efficient and quicker implementation mechanisms through hands-on practical experiences and proven approaches to different technologies.

“Collaborating with a World Renowned Utility that PUB is, and especially based on its paradigm shift and intentional investments made in developing and harnessing technology in the Singaporean water sector for the last 50 years, we expect to learn from their rich and vast experience in innovation”, Umuhumuza said.

The signed MoU is among the very many other memorandum of understandings that WASAC has signed with various institutions with the aim to deepen collaborations in water supply and sanitation services management.(End).
