Defence Attachés accredited to Rwanda were received at RDF HQ for the Quarterly Security Briefing

Thirty Defence Attachés (DA), Associates accredited to Rwanda and guest delegates were received at the MoD/RDF(Rwanda Defense Forces) Headquarters(HQ) in Kimihurura for the Quarterly Security Briefing. 

The participants represented twenty-four countries namely; Algeria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Namibia, The Netherlands, Poland, Republic of Korea, Russia, Sweden, Türkiye, Uganda, United Kingdom, USA, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Representatives of the EU Commission, ICRC and guest delegates from the EASF also attended the event. 

The DAs were welcomed by the Director General of International Military Cooperation in the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General Patrick Karuretwa.

In his opening remarks, he thanked the DAs for their growing participation and emphasized on the importance of conducting security briefings to further enhance the defence cooperation and mutual understanding. 

The DAs were briefed on the new changes in laws governing the RDF and new structure;  the internal and external security situation; updates on RDF operations in Mozambique and CAR(Central African Republic). 

During the briefing, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and clarifications mainly focusing on regional security dynamics. (End)
