Elekta Foundation celebrates achievements in cervical cancer treatment in Rwanda

Minister Nsanzimana celebrates achievements in cervical cancer treatment  

The Minister of Health Dr Sabin Nsanzimana attended the Elekta Dinner hosted by the Elekta Foundation to celebrate its first anniversary, commemorate the World Cancer Day 2023 and the achievements in cervical cancer treatment and prevention in Rwanda.

In his remarks, Minister Sabin Nsanzimana thanked all the partners-including Elekta Foundation-that have helped build a strong foundation for cancer elimination. He reiterated Rwanda’s commitment to continue investing in Cervical Cancer prevention through collaboration.

To mark the World Cancer Day 2023, the Ministry of Health in collaboration with its partners organized a symposium on Cervical Cancer to share new evidence on cervical cancer and the progress made towards its elimination.

During the symposium, Minister Sabin Nsanzimana highlighted the existing burden of cervical cancer, recognized the progress that Rwanda has made towards elimination and touched upon what needs to be done for countries to be on the right path towards cervical cancer elimination.

The World Cancer Day aims to promote awareness on cancer as a public health issue and to strengthen actions towards improving access to quality care, screening, early detection, treatment and palliative care. (End)
