In his opening remarks, Mr Muhammad Sidat reiterated the importance of the project and the need to take up the implementation of the project: “This project should not be about well written presentations nor well written objectives. It is high time for African football to move from theoretical approaches and embark on the implementation approach. I commend the Federation of Rwanda Football Associations for walking the walk with us and for dedicating yourselves to the project.”

FERWAFA President Mr MUGABO N. Olivier vowed to dedicate himself and the team to the project. He said: ‘’The league development program is a very good project if you look at it in the Rwandan perspective. I pledge my support in order to speed up the process. We understand Covid-19 has slowed down most of the activities but we can overcome the challenges together and make this project a success.’’

With the support of the UEFA Assist Program, CAF has embarked on a project to develop the leagues across Africa in the quest to enhance the organizational structure and economic sustainability of the domestic competitions. It is dubbed ‘’CAF & UEFA Assist League Development Program’’ and aims to support Member Associations to professionalize their leagues and club development by providing long term development of football.
