G77+China Summit: President Kagame met with his counterparts from Venezuela and Angola

President Kagame had an engaging exchange with President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela

President Kagame had an engaging exchange with President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela on the sidelines of the G77 + China Summit. They discussed the role of adversity in fueling the pursuit of development as well as various potential areas of bilateral and economic cooperation.

 President Kagame also met with President João Lourenço of Angola on the sidelines of the G77 + China Summit, where they discussed regional and continental matters of interest, as well as further expanding bilateral partnerships.

The G77+China, a group of developing and emerging countries representing 80 percent of the world’s population, kicked off a summit in Cuba Friday with a call to “change the rules of the game” of the global order. 

During the G77 + China Summit of Heads of State and Government, President Kagame delivered Rwanda’s National Statement highlighting challenges faced by the Global South and ways forward in addressing them.  

“In the case of the Group of 77, plus China, we represent more than 80 percent of the world’s population. That is a comparative advantage, and we need to make good use of it, to fulfil our promise of building a brighter future for our people.”, President Kagame said in his remarks.

The Summit taking place from 15-16 September 2023 in Havana, capital of Cuba, is being held under the theme “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation” and is hosted by President Miguel Díaz-Canel of Cuba. (End)
