German Deputy Minister of Foreign Office visits Rwandan troops in Mozambique

Mrs Katja Keul, the Deputy Minister and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, accompanied by Ronald Munch, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mozambique, visited Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) in Palma Town.

Major General Alex Kagame, the RSF Command, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the current security situation in the RSF area of responsibility.

Mrs Katja stated that; the purpose of the visit to Cabo Delgado province mainly focuses on finding out the progress of the campaign against terrorism and the impact of humanitarian aid and security situation in Cabo Delgado.

She commended work well done by Rwanda in helping Mozambique Republic to bring peace in the entire province. She further wished the RSF a good work in the campaign against terrorism.

Rwanda deployed army and police personnel to Cabo Delgado in July 2021 at the request of the Government of Mozambique, and currently has around 2,500 troops engaged in joint operations with Mozambican forces. Additional troops are being deployed in areas that have experienced new terrorist attacks. (End)
