Joint Rwanda and Thailand peacekeepers in South Sudan conduct health care community outreach

Joint Rwandan (Rwanbatt-1 and Rwanda Aviation Unity) and Thailand Peacekeepers under United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) along with Rwandan diaspora and Society for Family Health (SFH in South Sudan) conducted health care community outreach in Gudele in Juba Town.

They provided free medical services by testing and treating malaria for Gudele residents. The community work also included a general clean-up of the area (removal mosquito breeding sites, rubbishes, bushes) and making household vegetable gardens.

Mr. Kennedy Alfred, an official from South Sudan’s Ministry of Health, appreciated the initiative and support from Rwandan and Thailand peacekeepers.

Lt Col Emmanuel Shyaka, Rwanbatt-1 Commander, urged the local population of Gudele community to keep their areas clean and to make their own household vegetable gardens as a way of fighting malnutrition. (End)
