Minister Biruta received the non-resident Ambassador of Indonesia to Rwanda

This morning, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr Vincent Biruta received the non-resident Ambassador of Indonesia to Rwanda, Tri Yogo JATMIKO for a courtesy call. 

Minister Vincent Biruta and Ambassador Tri Yogo JATMIKO discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. 

In March 2023, Rwanda announced the opening of an embassy in Jakarta and appointed Sheikh Abdul Karim Harerimana as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Indonesia. Rwanda’s Ambassador to Indonesia hitherto had residence in Singapore.

Rwanda’s plan to open an embassy in Indonesia was announced in November 2022 by President Kagame during a meeting with President Joko Widodo of the Republic of Indonesia, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia.

On this occasion, President Kagame expressed his gratitude for Indonesia’s assistance in increasing capacity building for Rwanda.

President Jokowi said he would like to see the relations between Indonesia and Africa reflected in strong economic cooperation and proposed the establishment of a trade agreement between Indonesia and Rwanda.

Mr. Tri Yogo Jatmiko is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia for the United Republic of Tanzania, accredited to the Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Burundi. (End)
