Today, Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda received in his office, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Rwanda, Hazza Alqahtani.
Minister Juvenal Marizamunda and UAE Ambassador Hazzan Alqahtani discussed ways of strengthening defence cooperation.
Diplomatic relations between Rwanda and UAE were established in 1995. In March 2018, Abdalah Bin Zayed, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, opened the Embassy of UAE to Rwanda in Kigali.
In June 2018, Hazza Alqahtani presented his Letters of Credence as the first resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Kigali, to the President Paul Kagame. This important sign highlighted the development of diplomatic relations between Rwanda and UAE of that year.
In February 2019, the President Rwanda led a ministerial delegation and attended the World Government Summit 2019 in Dubai. (End)
