Morocco, “a key player” in the fight against terrorism (Nato)

Rabat: Morocco is a “key player” in the fight against terrorism, said on Monday October 24, 2022, in Rabat, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Javier Colomina Piriz, who described the Kingdom as a “very important partner” for the Atlantic Alliance.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s 24-hour news channel, following his talks with representatives of the national departments that follow up on the cooperation and partnership programme with NATO, Colomina Piriz welcomed the “enormous responsibility” that Morocco has chosen to take on in the fight against terrorism.

He also stressed the “practical cooperation” that the Atlantic Alliance has with the Moroccan military authorities and the “important political dialogue” that it maintains with the Kingdom, recalling in this respect that Morocco is a member of the Mediterranean Dialogue.

Mr. Colomina Piriz, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom, said he was “extremely satisfied” with the high-level talks he had with the Moroccan authorities to intensify this dialogue and make it “more regular and substantial”, stressing the need to revitalise it.

He also took the opportunity to express the wish to continue to deepen the “enormously satisfactory” partnership that Nato has with Morocco.
